Mäkkelä, un musicien-compositeur unique en son genre nous transporte sur une musique « folk-noir » mélangeant des hymnes énigmatiques, des racines punk-folk avec une touche de vaudeville des plus surprenants. Cette création musicale éclatante est soutenue par une écriture fine et un jeu de guitare surprenant qui lui a valu en 2017 une nomination pour le European Folk Award en Allemagne. Sur scène, Mäkkelä livre une performance acoustique envoutante, principalement à la guitare et au bouzouki irlandais. Un show qui se distingue radicalement de la plupart des concerts de singer-songwriters. Intensité des chansons et énergie pure... Des concerts qui nous rappellent des momentum à la « Et quand Cohen rencontre Waits et Strummer ». Depuis la sortie de son dernier album "Homeland", Mäkkelä tourne solo avec brio au Canada, en Scandinavie et en Europe centrale et orientale. Il se produit dans les plus importants festivals de roots/folk/underground d'Allemagne et de la République tchèque.

After the rough time of the pandemic with all its limitations, 2024 looks like a musically promising new year. Finnish singer-songwriter Mäkkelä is going to hit the road again in Europe, presenting new material and songs from his current album "Dog & Typewriter". A stripped-down, reduced to the essentials programme of intense, at times even worrying, acoustic songs recorded over the past two years. "Dog & Typewriter" and it's predecessor "Trad & Anger" deliver what has become the artist's trademark over hundreds of live shows he played all over Europe and Canada the past years. Bridging atmospheric Folk Noir far from genre clichés with beat poetry and a live performance of scarce intensity earned the artist a nomination for the European Folk Award in Germany, commissions for theatre/stage music, a cultural award of the city of Nuremberg, let alone a loyal following all over Europe. You may expect exceptional concerts of one of Europe's most distinct and interesting solo performers.
