María Laura Vásquez, Argentina, 2022, doc, 92’, vo st fr
In 2019, for eleven days, 23 indigenous women from across Argentina peacefully occupied the Ministry of the Interior. They denounce the assassinations and the numerous unpunished crimes that their communities suffer. Despite government and media indifference, they are fighting to denounce a system based on oppression, to make themselves heard and to show their strength and resilience.

Indigenous communities have been facing persistent challenges, from the legacies of colonialism to the battles for recognition and protection of their human rights, worsened by the environmental impact of their lands’ exploitations. Indigenous women have played a pivotal role for the self-determination of their peoples, even at the international level.

This discussion will explore the conditions of Indigenous people in the Americas and inclusive pathways for a future where human rights are upheld.
