To celebrate its 20th anniversary the Geneva Literary Aid Society is delighted to present an evening of award winning Irish theatre with the double bill of “The Humours of Bandon” and “Friends Help You Move”.

‘The Humours of Bandon’ starring Margaret McAuliffe:

This award-winning show has toured the world, knocking out audiences in the US after winning plaudits at the Edinburgh and Dublin Fringe Festivals. We have long wanted to bring it to Geneva.

Have you ever had a childhood passion that threatened to overwhelm your life? In a world besotted with Riverdance, we meet Annie, a 16-year-old devotee of Irish dancing on the eve of the Irish Open Championships. We share her mind-numbing commitment and burning desire to triumph. Will she win and, if so, in what way?

What the critics said:
‘witty and warm’ – The Times
‘terrific one woman show..by turns sharp, charming and hilarious’ – The Irish Times
‘witty and poignant’ – The Scotsman
‘a hilarious and heart warming production that is not to be missed,’ – The Arts Review
‘…a delight…Margaret McAuliffe is a star…sit back and enjoy this emotional rollercoaster ride’ – Broadway Baby

‘Friends Help You Move‘

The curtain will first go up on ‘Friends Help You Move‘, a one-act, black comedy about two inept Irish criminals with dreams of a heist beyond their capabilities, written and directed by John Ward. The play won Best Original Script at the FEATS 2024 festival of European theatre in Antwerp and came second in the UK National Drama Festival last year.

This is a collaboration with the Geneva English Drama Society (GEDS) and features a fine cast of John Ward, Daire O’Doherty and Will Fihn Ramsay.
